A PARADISE FOR DOGS
Walk off-lead in the fields and woods of the 100-acre estate, play on the beach, eat out in dog friendly pubs and restaurants, or roam the 186 miles of coast path (join it in 10 minutes on foot from the cabin). Then relax together on the secure deck, or take a throw and snuggle down on the sofas.
DOG FRIENDLY CABIN
The cabin is designed with dogs in mind. There’s a handy heated cupboard next to the entrance door for stowing shoes, boots, leads and dog towels, so all the mud and sand is in one place. If it’s wet outside, you can switch on the tube heater to dry everything off. The floors are thick cedar wood throughout, easy to clean and maintain. We’ve banished carpets (smelly dirt traps that they are), but there are wipe-clean rugs for our pals to curl up on, and sofa blankets too. If happy claws scratch the floors, don’t worry, we’re repainting next winter.
As we have guests without dogs too, we’d prefer it if you keep dogs off the beds. If this is impossible, please bring extra throws and your own bed linen. It goes without saying that wet or dirty dogs should keep all four paws on the floor until they’ve dried off and been brushed.
Up to 4 dogs are welcome if you book direct, and the first dog stays free. The dog supplement is £25 per dog, per stay. No other pets are allowed.
PLAYTIME OUTSIDE
Got an active beastie? They’ll love playing in the private fields around the cabin on the 100-acre Timber Hill estate. There are lots of good walks from the door, including circular walks on the estate itself. If your dog likes a paddle, there are several streams in the woods and a lake at the top end of the grounds - our dog Gringo enjoys a dip there when no-one’s fishing.
Back at the cabin, the deck is enclosed and gated, so you can sit outside together stress-free. From June onwards, we’ll have a roll-up wire fence by the dining patio that you can pull around the patio and the lawn at the front to create a safe dog space while you are outside. Roll it up again when you go inside or leave. An excited or boisterous dog will find it easy to knock over, so keep your beasties supervised
As a courtesy to others staying in the grounds, dogs must be kept on lead in the immediate vicinity of the cabins, but they are allowed off-lead elsewhere on the estate as long as they are under control. The estate doesn’t keep livestock, but there may be horses, sheep and cattle in the neighbouring fields.
OUT & ABOUT
There’s plenty to do together in the local area. You can walk your dogs for miles on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path (join it 10 minutes walk from the cabin), or go for a leisurely stroll down to Broad Haven beach on the woodland path. The beach is dog-friendly all year round, with just one part restricted access May to October.
For something unusual, visit Dr Beynon's Bug Farm & Grub Kitchen, a unique visitor centre, cafe, sustainable farm & nature reserve just 15 minutes drive away (dogs allowed on leads). Or pop over to Heatherton World of Activities and have a go on the dog agility circuit . A short drive, don’t miss the Bosherston Lily Ponds walk, a scenic dog-friendly walk rich in wildlife.
If your beastie has sea legs, you can take a boat trip to Caldey or Skomer Islands and visit the seabird colonies (on lead!). If you’re lucky you’ll catch a glimpse of seals and dolphins on the ride over. For a civilised potter, visit one of the nearby scenic towns and villages such as St David’s, Newport, Tenby, Porthgain, and Solva. All have dog friendly cafes and restaurants.
